The Association of Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Specialists (Hong Kong) was established in 1998. The membership of the Association comprised a fairly even representation of consultants, contractors, academics and client bodies which having a common interest in the practice of site investigation, geotechnics (soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation engineering, geoenvironmental engineering), engineering geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrogeology and related disciplines. The Association organises a wide variety of learned society meetings such as ground forums, seminars and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses, acts in an advisory role in the publication of geotechnical documents and actively participates in the Ground Investigation Working Party (GIWP). The main objective of the Assocation is to provide a balanced view from the Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Community in Hong Kong.
